Year 9 Capitalism for Good Projects

As part of our Year 9 Capitalism for Good unit, students travelled across Sydney to see social enterprises in action. Our first group of students explored rooftop beehives in the heart of the CBD with John Prince and Rooftop Bees. They saw how profit and purpose can thrive together when we value the planet as much as people. The connection back to Redlands is sweet too – our own rooftop hives support the Beekeeping Club, fuel teaching and learning projects and even produce honey that students harvest, price and sell within our community. A powerful reminder that sustainability isn’t an abstract idea but something we can practise and model every day.

Our second group of students stepped into the kitchen at Kyiv Social, where every dumpling tells a story of resilience and social impact. By connecting enterprise to compassion, fairness and responsibility, students experienced firsthand how business can serve others and create real change.
