Redlands House provides a richly stimulating, innovative and caring environment which fosters students’ natural curiosity and thirst for knowledge. It offers a purposeful education that establishes in each child a love of learning and a strong sense of self.
Redlands House is one of the very few preschools in Australia to have received a perfect rating of Exceeding Quality Standard in all seven quality areas by ACECQA, the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority. The two-year program, for children aged 3-5 years, incorporates the very best early childhood teaching theories and practices from around the world.
Learning at Redlands House is completely individualised, and each child is provided with a range of activities appropriate to their stage of development enabling them to learn at their own pace.
Activities are developmentally sequential and all activities are designed to be enjoyable and stimulating. Classroom teachers guide each child through the program and children are supported in reaching milestones appropriate to their developmental stage.
Our Preschool Program
Our high quality child-centred program of both play and structured learning, in a variety of indoor and outdoor learning spaces, is designed to engage students in wondering, questioning and discovering. It ensures that they are prepared to make the best possible start to school. The program encompasses the following classes:
Juniors – two days per week for 3 year old children
Seniors – three days per week for 4 year old children
Transition – five days per week for 4-5 year old children
The Redlands House curriculum reflects a strong commitment to the concept of developmentally appropriate practice for young children. Additionally, our teachers value the unique talents, strengths and passions our children bring with them to preschool. Therefore, they develop teaching programs after attentively observing and listening to each child. Children are seen as active contributors in the learning process.
Key curriculum areas include:
- Arts and Crafts
- Physical Education
The children’s social and emotional skills are developed through our weekly Circle Time program, which enhances connectedness, resilience and wellbeing. Students also have cocurricular opportunities to participate in Ballet, Drama, Gymnastics, Football and Tennis.
Redlands House provides learning opportunities that build upon each child’s strengths while challenging them to explore their potential. Children are encouraged to ask questions as they build an understanding of the world, and their place in it, while learning to live and play happily and purposefully with others.
To cater for busy working parents, students can be dropped off at school from 8am and After School Care is available until 6pm. An action-packed Vacation Care program operates during the school holiday periods.
Our Preschool is an extension of home and provide environments where children feel loved, accepted and secure, as well as being places where children are encouraged to achieve their best socially, emotionally and academically. Redlands House fosters strong home-school partnerships, creating a smooth and caring transition from home to preschool. Parent participation is encouraged and teachers work in partnership with parents in optimising the learning of each child.
We place great value on developing strong links between home and school. At all times we strive hard to develop partnerships based on mutual understandings, mutual respect and continual dialogue.
