A Round Square
School
One of the distinguishing features of Redlands is our vibrant international community with a diversity of global perspectives enriching students, staff and parents. With over 50 nationalities represented across the School and many of our families joining Redlands from overseas, we are truly an international school for local students and a local school for international students.
At Redlands, we prepare students to lead with confidence, think globally, and make an impact.

Redlands is one of more than 260 Round Square schools across 50 countries and six continents that connect and collaborate to offer world-class programs and experiences, developing leadership and global competence, character and confidence in students.
The Round Square
IDEALS
More a philosophy than an organisation, Round Square’s overriding goal is to ensure the full and individual development of every student as a whole person through the realisation of academic, physical and cultural aspirations. The Round Square Framework is built around six themes called IDEALS:
- International Understanding
- Democracy
- Environmental Stewardship
- Adventure
- Leadership
- Service
At Redlands, we embed these IDEALS into both the academic curriculum and cocurricular programs. We believe strongly in the transformative value of these opportunities, recognising them as essential for developing students who are not only academically successful but also empathetic, globally aware, and equipped to lead meaningful, impactful lives.
The IDEALS are underpinned by twelve Discoveries that students explore on their learning journey. Understanding that many of life’s important lessons come from practical experience, we use experiential learning, to shape students’ character, and build their capacity to make a positive difference in the world as globally-minded, courageous and compassionate leaders.
Global Opportunities
for Redlands Students
In order to equip our students for positive, active and engaged global citizenship we must present them with opportunities to develop their understanding of internationalism, democracy, environmentalism, leadership and service as well as their sense of adventure.
Being a Round Square School offers our students and staff global opportunities to take part in a range of initiatives including challenges, collaborations, exchanges and conferences with students from like-minded schools.
Exciting
Opportunities
We are planning further involvement with Round Square over the next year through activities such as:

International Learning Trips
Opportunities for students to participate in international service learning trips. With no phones and no distractions, students will build their confidence, develop their leadership skills, improve the way they present, communicate and solve problems, all while making memories that will last a lifetime.

International and Virtual Exchanges
Round Square schools connect to create opportunities for students and teachers to develop international understanding, self-confidence and a range of interpersonal skills through studying or working on exchange at another school in our network.
Through the Round Square Virtual Exchange programme schools are able to connect their students with counterparts in schools around the world to share experiences, develop their language skills, understand more about one another’s country and culture, build friendships and remind one another that we are all in this together.

International Collaboration
International online collaborations with students in areas such as Languages, Geography, History and Mathematics.

Inspiring Voices Conference
A delegation of students will represent Redlands at the Round Square Inspiring Voices Conference at Oxford University in the UK in April. Students from 50 schools around the world will have an international discussion, debate new topics, and a public speaking event for 15-18 year olds.

Round Square International Conference in Dubai
A delegation of students representing Redlands at the Round Square International Conference in Dubai in September.

The Power of Student-Led Change
“As Round Square Captain, I have led programs like the Virtual Exchange and Green Hearts Sustainability Week. These experiences have shaped me as a leader and global citizen. I hope more students seize these incredible opportunities.”

The Redlands
Round Square Club
A Round Square Club was launched in 2024 with a committed group of senior students exploring areas of leadership, service, adventure and inclusivity and our first Round Square Captain, Sophie Yu, was also appointed for 2025.
These opportunities and others through Round Square will only further enhance our strong sense of internationalism at Redlands and provide endless benefits for our students.
