Vernon Ah Kee

Lex Wotton lives on Palm Island and is married to my cousin. I know Palm Island. My mother was born on Palm Island and Palm is home for many relatives of mine on both sides of my family. Lex is much admired on Palm Island. On a personal level he is quietly spoken, passionate about the Island and not at all the vociferously physical character he is portrayed as in the media and video evidence. As Lex has mentioned to me in our conversations, “that was just one day”. This portrait aims to show the man as he is and not as the mediated, ubiquitous image we see on screen.
