This year we were delighted to showcase the Redlands Konica Minolta Art Prize Collection. The Redlands Collection, created as a direct result of the acquisitive Prize over 22 years, is a remarkable collection of artworks reflecting and documenting contemporary practice in Australia and New Zealand. Redlands now has a unique and valuable teaching collection which includes pieces from Imants Tillers, Ben Quilty & Lindy Lee to name but a few.
This was also an opportunity for meeting with Cameron Robbin who was leading the Redlands Konica Minolta Artist in Residence program 2019. Cameron worked at Redlands with students and staff creating a site responsive artwork, connecting with the natural conditions and the built landscape, including the current redevelopment on the Senior Campus.
Cameron Robbins is a well regarded contemporary artist based in Melbourne. His installations reflect a deep interest in the elements, and the resulting work seeks to make tangible the underlying structures and rhythms of natural forces. Artworks such as wind powered drawing machines, steam organs and vortex chambers demonstrate these forces interacting.
