Redlands House, our Preschool for children aged 3 to 5 years of age, is located on the Junior Campus. It is based in the renovated historic building formerly known as The Old Hall in Allister St, Cremorne and is a state-of-the-art centre that blends traditional architecture with purpose built facilities.
Redlands House is one of the very few preschools in Australia to have received a perfect rating of Exceeding Quality Standard in all seven quality areas by ACECQA, the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority.
The seven areas assessed include educational program and practice; children’s health and safety; physical environment; staffing arrangements; relationships with children; collaborative partnerships with families and communities; and leadership and service management.
There is a Junior class for 3 year olds (2 days a week) and a Senior Class for 4 year olds (3 days a week). There is also a Transition Class (5 days a week) for Senior students who are not quite ready for school.
A Stimulating, Innovative and Caring Environment
Redlands House provides a richly stimulating, innovative and caring environment which fosters students’ natural curiosity and thirst for knowledge.
The two-year program incorporates the very best early childhood teaching theories and practices from around the world. It offers a purposeful education that establishes in each child a love of learning and a strong sense of self. A high quality child centred program of both play and structured learning is implemented, which prepares children for their formal years of schooling.
Learning is totally individualised, and each child is provided with a range of activities appropriate to their stage of development enabling them to learn at their own pace. Activities are developmentally sequential and all activities are designed to be enjoyable and stimulating. Classroom teachers guide each child through the program and children are supported in reaching milestones appropriate to their developmental stage.
Redlands House provides learning opportunities that build upon each child’s strengths while challenging them to explore their potential. Children are encouraged to ask questions as they build an understanding of the world, and their place in it, while learning to live and play happily and purposefully with others.
Home School Partnership
Our Preschool is an extension of home and provide environments where children feel loved, accepted and secure, as well as being places where children are encouraged to achieve their best socially, emotionally and academically.
Redlands House fosters strong home-school partnerships, creating a smooth and caring transition from home to preschool. Parent participation is encouraged and teachers work in partnership with parents in optimising the learning of each child.
We place great value on developing strong links between home and school. At all times we strive hard to develop partnerships based on mutual understandings, mutual respect and continual dialogue.
