Lauren Brincat

"It will come pa rum pum pum pum"

In 2004 Brincat graduated with First Class Honours from Sydney College of the Arts and she completed a Masters in 2006. Brincat is currently working in a performative and sculptural manner, predominately focused on the fetishization and preciousness of the drum kit. Brincat was selected for the Helen Lempriere Traveling Art Scholarship Exhibition in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

This video work references the traditions of performative art along with the sweaty masculine performances of rock ‘n roll music. I awkwardly play my deconstructed drum kit (resembling a buxom woman) with an extended phallic length of timber dowel, which creates a melodic soundscape.
