Students elect to study either the HSC or International Baccalaureate course.

Higher School Certificate (HSC)

Compulsory

  • English: English Standard, English 2 Unit, English Extension 1 & 2, ESL English

Electives


  • Mathematics: Mathematics 2 Unit, Extension 1 & 2 Mathematics, General Mathematics
  • Sciences: Physics, Chemistry, Biology
  • Languages: French, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish
  • Social Science: Business Studies, Economics, Geography
  • History: Ancient History, Modern History, Elective History
  • TAS: Design and Technology, Textiles and Design Technology, Information Processing and Technology, Software Design and Development
  • Visual Arts & Design: Visual Arts
  • Performing Arts: Drama, Dance, Music, Extension Music
  • PDHPE
  • Studies of Religion

International Baccalaureate (IB)

Students select 6 academic subjects studied over two years, one to be selected from each of Groups 1 to 5 and the sixth from Groups 1-4 or Group 6:

  • Group 1: Language A English A: Literature; English A: Language and Literature or Other native language by special arrangement
  • Group 2: Second Language French, German, Latin, Japanese, Mandarin, Spanish
  • Group 3: Individuals and Societies Business and Management, Economics, Geography, History, Environmental Systems & Societies*
  • Group 4: Environmental Sciences Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Systems & Societies*
  • Group 5: Mathematics Mathematics Higher Level, Mathematics Standard Level, Mathematical Studies
  • Group 6: The Arts: Music, Theatre, Visual Arts

 *Interdisciplinary subject

  The following Core elements are also a requirement of the IB:

  • Theory of Knowledge - a critical thinking programme central to the educational philosophy of the IB
  • Extended Essay - a 4000 word essay which is an in-depth study (and/or original research) of a focused topic within a Diploma subject
  • Creativity, Action and Service - a balanced and varied programme which engages students in these three distinct areas in addition to their academic programme
