Careers & Higher Education

Redlands students are assisted with information about career planning, tertiary study, courses and subject selection, and university applications by a qualified registered Careers Counsellor (CAANSW) with an extensive background in Education and vocational planning.

Careers Information

Comprehensive up-to-date resources are available for students to research and borrow for Universities and Colleges in NSW, other Australian states and Overseas; TAFE; special programs of study including Vocational Education Sector; and information on a wide range of occupational areas including those offering traineeships, apprenticeships and cadetships.

We have a Careers Website dedicated to providing final year students and parents the latest information about Open Days, Information Seminars, application and closing dates, special application schemes, cadetships, scholarships, bridging courses and study enrichment programs. Students and parents are updated on important events and deadlines via the School's weekly newsletter.

Regular presentations are organized with Australian Universities and Colleges and visiting academic advisers from overseas institutions in USA, Canada and UK.

Lunchtime workshops provide information on application procedures for scholarships and cadetships.

Careers Testing Program

There is a careers testing program for all students in Year 10 which assesses individual abilities and specific aptitudes. This is followed by individual interviews and reports for each student which assist in the planning for course selection and career planning.

Careers Focus Evenings

These evenings are organized every year for Year 12 students showcasing a wide range of career areas with speakers from various tertiary institutions, Redlands Alumni and other industry experts.

Tertiary Education Applications

Assistance with applications for tertiary study is provided by the Careers Counsellor for both Australian and overseas institutions including timely advice regarding special testing required for USA(SAT, ACT) and UK(UCAS). Students applying for admission to universities in the USA are able to have their applications certified and collated for each university through the Careers Department.
