Redlands - Let your light shine

Religious Education

Redlands is a school in the Anglican tradition that seeks to encourage sound values, inspire each student to develop their unique potential and use their knowledge, abilities and resources for the benefit of others. We warmly welcome people of all faiths to our School community.

Chapel

Students from Kindergarten to Year 12 meet once a week for a Christian Chapel service that encourages them to come aside from the business of the school day to explore their spiritual journey.

Students also attend a number of special Christian services such as Easter, Christmas and Foundation Day services.

Studies of Religion

All students from Pre-School to Year 10 undertake one period of Studies of Religion a week.

From Pre-School to Year 6,  the lessons are Christian studies with a focus on the universal themes of kindness, love and respect for others, friendship, service, loyalty, responsibility, wisdom for life.  In Kindergarten to Year 6, other world religions are discussed through HSIE subjects.

In Secondary School students are taught about and invited to explore the Christian faith.  In the course of this learning they are encouraged to engage in intelligent discussion and consideration of values and ethics.

They are also introduced to the central beliefs and practices of some of the other major world religions and worldviews. In Year 9 there is a specific opportunity to explore various world religions culminating in a Year 10 study of the five major world religions and discussions of the impact of a number of world views on our culture.

Chaplains
