ICT and Learning
The two major goals of Redlands ICT platform are:
- ICT seamlessly integrated into the learning experience to support teaching for understanding
- Universal access to networked resources from Pre- School to Year 12.
The School has a plentiful supply of computers (both laptops and desktops) for students in the Secondary School; and there are computers in all classrooms Pre-School – Year 6. Desktop and laptop computers are also available for student research in the Arnold and Roseby libraries, and in the computer labs on both campuses. Students also have the option of using their personal laptops at school.
All students have their own school email address with Microsoft Live@Edu. This provides a single point of access to the School’s online learning platform, Moodle and network drives. Because the Live@edu system is cloud based, students can access it from any internet connected device – PCs, Macs, smartphones – so families do not need to invest in a particular brand of hardware or software. Their digital school bag also includes easy access to Microsoft Office 2010 software and 25 GB of online storage.
Students therefore have easy access to the ICT resources required to support a collaborative teaching and learning environment and to facilitate higher order thinking.
Students are invited to bring their personal laptop and access the Internet at School but do need to sign an agreement which they can collect from the IT Department. Students' personal laptops need to be re-registered once a year.
