Redlands Theatre program offers a diversity of
experiences and choice, allowing students individual specialisation in
performance, design, film and production, in the context of a strong
international focus.
The Theatre program fosters an atmosphere
that allows students to develop a solid sense of self worth by
encouraging them to identify, develop and enrich their personal
attributes and talents. The program nurtures the development of
confidence and leadership skills.
Students acquire skills in
interpretation, communication, performance, design & critical
analysis, & are able to use technical processes & technologies
to heighten dramatic presentation.
Curriculum Drama
Students learn to express dramatic meaning by taking on and sustaining familiar and different roles and by selecting character-specific gestures and movement. They use the elements of Drama to deepen meaning, as well as consolidating interpretative and symbolic work in the Drama forms of improvisation, movement, mime, storytelling, and playbuilding. They interpret the meaning of their own Drama and that of others.Co-curricular and Extra Subject Performing Arts
Performing Arts offers a variety of Extra Subjects and Co-curricular classes in Acting, Film, Production and Music Theatre classes from Kindergarten to Year 12, as well as Private Tuition. Classes take place after school on a weekly basis and culminate in open workshops and performances at the end of each Semester.The program works on several levels with a specialised approach to Performing Arts education. Classes are taught skills based units allowing for high quality teaching matched to each student’s special needs. Performance opportunities are available at a variety of school events such as Assemblies, Eisteddfods, Grandparent’s and Special Friends Day, Gala Arts and the Spring Fair.

Redlands Drama has two working theatre companies, enhancing the student’s experience of theatre by expanding their ability to interpret & manipulate dramatic structures from a range of styles & cultures in a practical context.Drawing on our school motto “Let Your Light Shine”, our junior company for Years 9 to 10 is “BriteSparx” and “Lighthouse Theatre Company” is our senior company for Year 11 to 12.
